Admission Requirements

Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) applicants must have attained:

Subject Minimum Grade
English Language Level 3
Chinese Language Level 3
Mathematics Level 2
Citizenship and Social Development^ Attained
One Elective Subject* Level 2

^ The “Attained” level in the subject “Citizenship and Social Development” can be counted as Level 2 and included in the score calculation of the best five subjects. Applicants with previous HKDSE subject result of A040 “Liberal Studies” can be used as the alternative of the core subject requirement of A045 “Citizenship and Social Development”. Admissions requirements may vary from time to time, applicants are reminded to browse the latest admissions details shown in this website or contact our admissions staff before application.

* The following subjects can be accepted as an elective subject:

  • Applied Learning subject (ApL). Maximum of one relevant ApL can be counted. “Attained with Distinction (II)” and “Attained with Distinction (I)” is comparable to level 4 and level 3 respectively. “Attained” in ApL will not be considered. ApL Chinese cannot be used as an elective subject.
  • Category C subjects (Other languages). Maximum of one Cat. C subject can be counted. Grade E or above is required.
  • Mathematics Extended Part M1 and M2 can be counted.

Additional Consideration:

Once the programme’s minimum entrance requirements are fulfilled, the BSc-ADS adopts the Best Five Subject policy with Mathematics (Compulsory Part) inclusive for the selection decision. The admission score will be calculated based on the total score of the best five subjects. Students who have achieved level 4 or above in the “Extended modules in Mathematics” (i.e., Module 1 Calculus and Statistics or Module 2 Algebra and Calculus) or “Information & Communication Technology” at HKDSE will be given additional consideration.

Other qualifications:

  • Hong Kong Associate Degree (AD) / Higher Diploma (HD) holders (of locally accredited programmes); or
  • Three passes in GCE A-level subjects. Two AS subjects are considered to be equivalent to one A-level subject. The same subject will not be counted at both the A-level and AS-level; or
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with an overall minimum score of 24; or
  • Mainland applicants reach the second batch of undergraduate scores in Mainland National Joint College Entrance Examination (NJCEE) of their corresponding provinces and municipalities; or
  • Other equivalent academic qualifications (subject to assessment by the University).

Professional Internship

Students are required to participate in a 3-month summer internship at local or overseas corporations by the end of Year 3.
