The Government has allocated $3 billion for the launch of a three-year AI Subsidy Scheme to support local universities, R&D centres, government departments and AI-related enterprises in leveraging the computing power of Cyberport’s AI Supercomputing Centre (AISC).

The Government collaborates with the industry to promote a common Wi-Fi brand “Wi-Fi.HK” for those Wi-Fi services in Hong Kong which are offered by the public and private sectors completely free of charge or time-limited free of charge in Hong Kong. Organisations and Wi-Fi service providers are welcome to join this scheme.

Data centres are an essential infrastructure to support pillar sectors like financial services, trading and logistics as well as other economic sectors. Data centres also provide the catalyst for the development of new content and applications, as well as cloud computing services. There is potential for strong growth in the demand for data centres in Hong Kong.

We adopt an appropriate mechanism to exempt e-sports venues from the requirements of Amusement Game Centre Licence. 

We continue to foster closer academia-industry collaboration to work together to create an environment where a well qualified ICT manpower can flourish and meet the needs of a digital economy. We also encourage students to take up ICT programmes in their tertiary studies or even in secondary schools, and to become ICT professionals in their careers.
