World IPv6 Day (8 June 2011)

In order to promote the deployment of IPv6, the Internet Society (ISOC) has designated 8 June 2011 as "World IPv6 Day". On that day, (from Hong Kong Time 08:00 8 June 2011 to 07:59 9 June 2011), participating organizations will enable IPv6 in addition to their normal IPv4 services on their main websites for a 24-hour "test-flight". The major objective of the World IPv6 Day is to motivate organizations across the industry to prepare their services for IPv6 to ensure a successful transition as IPv4 addresses run out. It also aims to address problems in IPv6 deployment, such as IPv6 brokenness in home networks and incomplete IPv6 interconnection.
