Computer Operator (COp) Grade
Computer Operator Grade staff operate and monitor computer equipment, network and data centre/server room facilities installed in government bureaux/departments. They also manage computer job processing, and perform site preparation, user IT support, help desk, security monitoring of IT services and IT related procurement services.
Staff of the Computer Operator Grade are mainly on the establishments of the various government bureaux/departments. As at 30 Nov 2024, about 26% of the 540 Computer Operator Grade staff are on the establishment of the Digital Policy Office, mainly handling Digital Policy Office Central Computer Centre computer operations.
Grade Structure:
The Digital Policy Office has developed a comprehensive training plan for officers at all levels of the Computer Operator Grade having regard to the operational and career development needs. Training takes various forms, including participation in information technology conferences, face-to-face training, e-learning, and visits to other organisations, so that they can keep abreast of the latest professional knowledge and technology expertise. In addition to training courses, the Digital Policy Office also encourages and sponsors staff to take professional examinations and pursue continuing education relevant to their duties. Furthermore, workplace learning activities and a variety of learning resources are offered to encourage life-long learning.
