Extension of validity period of licence
Under Telecommunications Ordinance (Cap. 106), Services-based Operators are required to obtain a licence if they wish to operate telecommunications means and make use of the networks of the licensed facility-based operators to provide public telecommunications services.
To facilitate the trade, the Office of the Communications Authority has extended the validity period of Services-based Operator Licences from one year to two years since 2020 to reduce the operating cost and administrative burden of telecommunications services providers in licence renewal, and secure a higher degree of stability to the operation of the trade.
