Multi-functional Smart Lampposts
Introduction
The implementation of Multi-functional Smart Lampposts (smart lampposts) is to promote smart city development with a view to collecting real-time city data such as air quality and traffic flow as well as supporting the development of digital infrastructure for 5G services. The data collected by smart lampposts are released to the public as open data via DATA.GOV.HK for the development of innovative applications.
Development of Smart Lampposts
The Government has planned to install smart lampposts in all new development areas (such as the Northern Metropolis) for providing convenient information services and collecting real-time city data for analysis, thus enhancing city management and promoting more innovative applications. We will also replace existing lampposts with smart lampposts in suitable urban locations to fulfil city management requirements.
Applications and Devices
The applications are deployed on smart lampposts at selected locations on need basis, devices are not installed on every lampposts. The summary of applications and relevant devices are listed below while the function of devices and the reference installation position on the smart lamppost can be found here.
