Adoption of Digital Certificates in Hong Kong
Recognized digital certificates issued by the recognized CAs are being used in a number of domain areas such as Government and various business sectors. The following services are some typical examples of digital certificate adoption.
- Government-to-Business services (e.g. Government Electronic Trading Services, Road Cargo System, e-Procurement);
- Government-to-Citizen services (e.g. Voter Registration, Application for Renewal of Vehicle Licence, Inpatient Medication Order Entry System);
- Government-to-Employee services (e.g. Government internal mail system, Police Smart Warrant Card System);
- University payment services (e.g. digital certificate payment service);
- School administration services (e.g. checking of student attendance, signing of school return slips);
- Financial services (e.g. e-banking);
- Business-to-Business services (e.g. secure e-mail exchanges);
- Business-to-Consumer services (e.g. online shopping);
- Cross-border initiatives (e.g. Mutual Recognition of Electronic Signature Certificates issued by Hong Kong and Guangdong ).
E-Government Services that Require Digital Certificates
